The Princes' Islands: A Calm Day at Istanbul's Doorstep

Lying in the Sea of Marmara just off the Istanbul coast, the Princes' Islands are perfect for a break from the city's pace, with wooden mansions, pine forests and quiet streets. With no private car traffic, time on the islands is spent on foot and by bicycle.

Buyukada

The largest of the islands, Buyukada is known for its historic mansions and the Church of St George on the hilltop. At the end of the walk up, a wide view of the Marmara awaits.

Heybeliada

For a quieter atmosphere, Heybeliada is a good choice. Its pine-fringed coves and the hill topped by the historic Halki Seminary are the island's highlights.

Burgazada and Kinaliada

The smaller Burgazada and Kinaliada are ideal for short walks and a seaside lunch. You can stop at these islands on the ferry back to round off the day.

Getting to the islands

Ferries to the islands leave from the Kabatas, Eminonu and Bostanci piers. Reaching the pier early in the morning helps you make the most of the day. For the ride from your hotel to the pier and back in the evening, you can use our chauffeured car service.
