From Ortakoy to Bebek: A Pleasant Walk Along the Bosphorus
The stretch from Ortakoy to Bebek on the European shore of the Bosphorus is one of Istanbul's most enjoyable walks. Along the water, historic mosques, wooden houses and seaside cafes follow one after another.
Ortakoy
Right beside the Bosphorus Bridge, Ortakoy Mosque sits at the water's edge and creates one of Istanbul's postcard views. Trying kumpir and waffles from the stalls in the square is a tradition here. Handicraft stalls set up at weekends are also popular.
Arnavutkoy
Walking north from Ortakoy, you reach the colourful wooden houses and narrow streets of Arnavutkoy. The fish restaurants along the shore are lovely choices for a meal with a Bosphorus view.
Bebek
With its seaside park, cafes and waterfront promenade, Bebek is the most elegant corner of the area. You can extend the walk past Bebek Mosque towards Rumeli Fortress.
